a nickname for Vancouver, BC.
The nickname Brollywood for Vancouver alludes to the rainy climate (see the 2003, the 2011 and the 2016 quotations and the entry for Raincouver) and the large place it occupies in Canada's television and film industry (see the 1995 quotation).

Once again, British Columbia had manufactured a cinematic illusion to rival any stage set in Burbank or Studio City. It turns out that the suffix "ollywood" is pretty popular around the world. There's Mollywood for films from Madras, Nollywood in Nigeria, Lollywood in Lahore, and even Brollywood for Vancouver - that's Hollywood with umbrellas. Bollywood has lots of company.
