On arriving at Thule five collapsible neoprene rubber tanks are installed in each Hercules, permitting 4500 U.S. gallons of fuel to be airlifted on each flight. . . . A Defense Department spokesman said that RCAF Hercules [air trucks] operating on Arctic manoeuvres have carried 4,000 gallons of oil in rubber blubberbags which fill the interior of the aircraft.
