Quotations

1925
Lights go out at 9 p.m., which means that we all should be in bed recuperating our strength to "wrestle chokers" on the following day.
1942
CHOKER. A short length of heavy cable coupled to the main cable (sky line or mainline) and having a hook attached at the free end. The hook is passed under the log and brought round to hook back on to its cable, thus making a running noose which is drawn tight by the mainline when the engineer starts to bring in the turn.
1963
In his salad days, before the War, the irrepressible Grogan took a whirl at setting chokers at Cumeshaw Inlet in the Queen Charlottes.
