a frozen treat of flavoured water.
Type: 1. Origin — This use of the term freezie is presently first attested in the early 1980s as freezie pop (see the 1981 quotation). Freezie appears to be a shortening of the trademark "Mr. Freeze" (see Image 1), possibly influenced by a slush-making machine of that name (see the 1977 quotation). Freezie is most frequently used in Canada, as Chart 1 shows, and would qualify also for a Type 5 - Frequency categorization.
The term is not listed in the Canadian dictionaries COD-2, CCD-2010, FWSCD-82, Gage-5 or ITP Nelson. It is not listed in the American Merriam-Webster Unabridged; it is not included in OED-3.

In the US, a similar treat is called a freeze pop or Otter pop.
