Quotations

1942
RIGGER. "The Rigger" is the high or head rigger or high climber, all terms for one and the same job. He has a crew consisting of a second rigger, several "extra riggers" and his engineer. He and his second rigger do the spectacular job of climbing and topping the spar trees and, in the case of a skidder, the back trees. What is a good deal more important, they are responsible for the proper rigging of a tree, its support with guy lines, the way the blocks are set and how the lines run out in the woods.
1963
There's where you'll hear the mainline hum
Through the bull-block, hanging high,
As the friction locks on the big main drum
And the rigger hollers, "Hi."
